My Happy Years in Coventry & West Midlands Fire Brigade
(1950 - 1959)
I joined the brigade in 1951 and was made to feel at home straight away.
I went to the training school in Birmingham in 1952, it was a 10 week course and on returning to Coventry, I was stationed at the Hales St. Station - Blue Watch.

The picture that my story relates to shows the fire Station in Hales St. which opened in 1902.

Old Type Fire Engines

I am sure we all have lots of memories of times gone by; the first one that sprung to mind when i read about this site was the Old Fire Engines that raced along the road when i was about 8yrs old.
